29.08.94Flight: Singapur - Jakarta - Ujung Pandang with Garuda. Stayed at hotel Ramayana which is a bit away from the city center.
30.08.94Acclimatisation day in Ujung Pandang. We had some photo shooting sessions at the university campus. The students took pictures of us, not vice versa.
31.08.94Travelled by bus from Ujung Pandang to Rantepao. Stayed at Wisma Te Bass.
01.09.94We could participate at a funeral in a little village outside Rantepao. We were the only tourists at the funeral and warmly accepted by the relatives of the deceased person. Men and women were sitting in separate groups for the meals. We were drinking palm wine and eating chewy pieces of meat, some of them had some bristles, others even parts of coat. Wine was served in bamboo canes. Highlight was the transport of the coffin to its final destination in a cave in the hills. It was a coffin race rather than a funeral procession.
02.09.94Travelled by bemo from Rantepao to Lemo where we visited Tau Tau terraces. Tau Taus are puppets. Each puppet hosts the soul of a dead person. They are standing in groups in front of the tombs. We hiked from Lemo through rice paddies to Londa where we visited a child grave which was in a treehole.
03.09.94Travelled by bemo from Rantepao to Batutumonga where we hiked back along rice paddies, bamboo forests and tomb caves via Pana and Tikala.
04.09.94Travelled by bus from Rantepao to Pendolo. Stayed at Hotel Mulia, which is situated right at the lake having a nice beach.
05.09.94Went by boat to Tokilo and hiked to a waterfall.

07.09.94Boattrip on Lake Poso from Pendolo to Tentena takes 2hrs. From Tentena we took the bemo to Poso.
08.09.94Travelled by bus from Poso to Palu and took a taxi from Palu to Donggala for 5 USD. Stayed a couple of days at Milano's Beach Club. Full board cost 20 USD for two persons. The bungalows are basic but clean and situated at sea-front. There is a coral reef at the resort which can easily be explored with snorkeling gear.

13.09.94Went by taxi from Donggala to Palu before flight: Palu - Ujung Pandang - Denpasar with Merpati. In Denpasar we took a taxi for 20 USD to Ubud. Stayed at Swan Inn which is situated right at a rice paddy.
14.09.94Travelled with bemo to Tamparksiring. Visited Tirta Empul Temple, Gurung Kawi Temple with impressive rice teraces and Goah Gajah temple.
15.09.94Travelled with bemo to Penelokan which is on top of a crater. There is a fantastic view to volcano Gunung Batur which puffs wads of smoke from time to time. Went to see the sunset at Tanah Lot temple together with hunderds of other tourists.
